Hello!

Oh no, another introduction?

Please, no. I am fed up with LinkedIn profile, resume, GitHub summary, application essays and cover letters. Honestly, I really hate bragging about my awards, projects, research and internship for a utilitarian purpose. These things do not define me.

Let me tell you who I REALLY am.

I am a Chinese, who studied in Singapore for high school and is currently studying in EECS major @ UC Berkeley in the U.S.

I am a big fan of Touhou, and I have been one for 3 years! My favorite character is Cirno. What is Touhou?

I like - perhaps these activities sound overly mundane - writing and listening to music. Of course, what makes less mundane is that I am into only certain types of writing and certain types of music.

My favorite writing style is that of Haruki Murakami, and my favorite music genre is hard to summarize and ever-shifting. Check my Netease Music profile to see what I am listening to currently. It is there in the sidebar. I love reading! If you have a book to recommend, just click here to tell me.

I originally thought that I would be a writer. Writing about stuff that I like - but something changed my mind and I started my STEM career: after publishing the book for my 17th birthday, I stopped frequent writing. That is a somewhat complicated story - perhaps I will talk about it in a separate post. I still do write, though.

I love wandering on the streets, especially those unfamiliar streets in a new city, or those places that carry my childhood memory. Sadly, the landscape is always changing.

I am always telling stories, especially the stories of my past. Sometimes, when I think I did a great job telling, I pen down what I told.

I am frank and straightforward. I act with integrity and talk with full honesty - except in the situations where a white lie is clearly a better option. I hate hypocrisy, formalism and fakeness - in fact, I guess almost no one like these.

I am emotional and sensitive, though usually I hide the emotions under my face. Ask me how I feel is the greatest care to me.

I once memorized 5 dictionaries - of course not for fun, but I always say this when icebreaker activities ask for a fun fact about me.

I am not the very social type of person - but every friend of mine knows me well, accepts my good and bad, and lasts long.

I am - or so I believe - an interesting soul.
